Lynne Wilkins

Hello, my name is Lynne Wilkins.

 Since the early 1970s I have lived in Townshend, Brattleboro, Guilford and Putney before finally settling into Putney in the early 1980s to raise my children. We attended Putney Central School as a family, my children as students K-8, and me as a parent, teacher’s aide, substitute teacher, Afterschool Program co-administer, PCS Forest Program volunteer, and PTO president.

  I come to you now as a fellow citizen of our Putney and Dummerston community, our county, and our country. As we all know, this is a pivotal election year, no matter where you stand on issues.  I cannot be a passive citizen anymore. I am compelled to step up. My mission is to be an informed and rational voice for the greater good.

I am running as a VT House Representative in District 4 from Putney and Dummerston.  I seek your vote in November!

I have seen elections come and go. I always tried to be informed, but to no greater extent than now, in a time of great national division and discourse, where hangs in the balance the very freedoms and opportunities the United States of America and her Constitution provides for us. I see more clearly than ever the incredible value of our United States Constitution. I hold it up as the guidepost above all others, with the exception of its guidepost, the Holy Bible. The United States Constitution is the document that guides us all with practical wisdom and clarity, extending into our daily lives to protect our liberties and those of the generations to come.  It is the document upon which we Americans thrive.

  Through these past years I fully recognize my values align with true conservatism, Constitutional conservatism that supports law and order, as well as fiscal responsibility.  

                              “We the people…” must protect it.

  I believe in

· parents' rights in their children's education;  the lifelong value of a strong core-based curriculum for kids K-12, emphasizing respect while teaching reading, math, history, written and spoken communication skills, critical thinking, art, music, and physical education. I support starting the school day with a pledge of allegiance to the flag, even adding a moment of silence to give every individual the chance to be still and reflect as they choose.

· being good stewards of our environment, sensibly balancing the needs of society and nature, promoting the health and welfare of both. I support protecting local farms and farmland.

· reducing tax burdens on Vermonters!

· our nation’s sovereignty and safety, not in open borders. I support legal immigration only, and that constitutional rights belong only to true legal citizens.
